Most repairs are completed on the first visit. When a part must be ordered, or is supplied by your warranty company, a return visit is scheduled once it arrives.
If the system isn't working, turn it off. One exception: if there is ice on the refrigerant lines or very little airflow, the coil is likely frozen. Turn the cooling off and leave the fan running for a few hours before the visit so the ice can clear and the system can be tested properly. For a maintenance visit on a working system, no preparation is needed.
No. Indoors, about three feet of clear space around the furnace or air handler is enough. For air conditioning visits, a clear path to the outdoor unit, with pet waste picked up and plants or debris cleared from around it. Everything else can stay where it is. We've seen worse.

Yes, measurably. Air along the Front Range is about 15 percent thinner than at sea level and carries less heat. Gas furnaces are adjusted for altitude by code, following the manufacturer's high-altitude instructions. Cooling equipment loses a few percent of capacity for every thousand feet of elevation, which is one reason systems run long on hot days.

No. Production and import of new R-22 ended in 2020. Servicing existing systems with recovered or reclaimed R-22 remains legal, and we continue to service them. Supply is limited, so it costs more than it once did. Whether an R-22 system is worth repairing depends on its condition.
R-410A systems remain fully serviceable. Air conditioners and heat pumps built since 2025 use a different refrigerant, and R-410A production is being reduced on a federal schedule, but neither fact requires replacing a working system.
Yes. Work contracted directly with High Plains Air carries a one-year workmanship guarantee on installations and 90 days on repairs. The guarantee covers our workmanship, not parts supplied by the customer or a warranty company. Warranty repairs follow the plan's own terms. Full terms accompany every estimate and invoice.
Yes. High Plains Air holds mechanical contractor licenses across the South Denver metro and carries liability insurance. Permits are pulled under our license with the local building department. All technicians handling refrigerant are EPA Section 608 certified.
